Brick Work
Durable and Versatile Brickwork by LC Joinery Scotland
When done properly, brickwork is extremely durable. While we don't offer a 5,000-year guarantee like the ancient ziggurats of Iran and Iraq, LC Joinery Scotland combines traditional craftsmanship with modern techniques and materials to ensure longevity and quality in all our brickwork projects.
The Benefits of Brickwork
Brick-built structures are popular in Scotland for good reasons. Bricks offer excellent water resistance, noise and thermal insulation, and have a lifespan of over 200 years. They are fireproof, eco-friendly, and recyclable. Depending on the type of bricks used, they can also provide excellent structural strength.
Versatile Applications
Brickwork is versatile and can be used for various applications, from new house builds to garden walls. We offer a wide range of brickwork solutions using traditional stone, block work, and facing bricks. Our services cover Fife, Dundee, Perth, and Edinburgh, ensuring exceptional standards and backed by our meaningful guarantee.
Built Right from the Ground Up
To get the best from any brick-built structure, it’s crucial to start with the right foundations and materials.

Foundations:
Good foundations are essential for any masonry wall. They must be wider than the wall they support, with dimensions and composition calculated based on the height, thickness, and materials used.

Mortar:
Getting the mortar right is essential for a long-lasting bond.
Mortar, a mixture of sand, cement, and water, must be matched to the bricks used. Too rigid, and the bricks will crack; too soft, and it won't provide sufficient strength. For repairs or restorations, matching the original mortar ensures uniformity and durability.
